Owners Manual for the Human Being
Published in Paperback by Red Wheel/Weiser (June, 1980)
Average review score:

FantasticWas superb.... A must for those that are spiritual and continously seeking. I bought a copy of the book in 1980-an autographed copy at that. Over the years the book has become worn and torn-but I still have the autographed portion. The author used to also have a spot on one of our local radio stations in Philadelphia. Sadly, the author has since died. I miss his pratical nonjudgemental advice. I am anxious to again purchase this book one day.

Oxford Textbook of Sports Medicine (Oxford Medical Publications)
Published in Hardcover by Oxford University Press (September, 1998)
Average review score:

Sports Medicine? It's here! Very Good! This edition goes with excellent design, making of "Oxford Textbook of Sports Medicine" an intellectual and didactic attractive. Moreover, in this second edition the sections are reviewed, having important topics for physicians and all people interesting in sports medicine. The chapters are completes and concise in the same time, a great point for the editors, authors and principally for readers. In the beginning, the book presents a brief review of exercise physiology, following with general topics in sports as nutrition and growing. After, some chapters show for the reader some of the most common injuries in sports, having special considerations the injuries in ankle and knee. The last chapters describe about special populations in sports, as women in pregnancy and elders. I really recommend this book.

The Paintings of Joan Mitchell
Published in Hardcover by University of California Press (June, 2002)
Average review score:

A vivid, highly recommended pickJoan Mitchell was one of the more notable painters of Abstract Expressionism in the period between 1950-1980, yet her fame has until now been largely restricted to professional circles. The collaborative effort of Jane Livingston, Linda Nochlin, Yvette Lee, Maxwell L. Anderson, Paintings Of Joan Mitchell is published to accompany a major exhibition at the Whitney Museum, and offers full-page color plates of Mitchell's paintings to accompany further insights on her craft and achievements. A vivid, highly recommended pick which stands alone from its exhibit foundations.

Patrick Swayze

A poor return for loyaltyA moving and well told memoir though a surprising and disappointing gift to be given by my colleagues after putting in 23 years of hard work at that company.

Pearl Harbor Story
Published in Paperback by Mercer University Press (May, 2001)
Average review score:

For anyone who wants more than just a surface verdictPearl Harbor Story is the fascinating and informative memoir of Major General H. D. Russell, who was a member of the U.S. Army Pearl Harbor Investigation Board, an entity that completed its work in October 1944. Major Russell dictated his recollections in early 1946, shortly after finishing six years of active duty in the Army and returning to civilian life. Major Russell's memoir is at last being published with consent of the general's heirs. His first-person account lends an urgent, up-close and unforgettable insider's view to events that shaped history. Major Russell's personal anger with the attack and with attempts to veil the essence of what was truly happening afterward shows clearly throughout. The official report's conclusion that U.S. government officials knew little or nothing about the likelihood of a Japanese attack are starkly challenged by the dissenting opinion of a knowledgeable investigator. Pearl Harbor Story is a must-read for anyone who wants more than just a surface verdict of a singular event that changed world history.

The Physicist
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (September, 2000)
Average review score:

A lot of twist and turnsThis is a great book. Building from one political event the author creates two stories of World War III that occur simultaneously in two different dimensions. The first story is a science fiction account that revolves around the loan survivor of the Nobel Prize Massacres, Brian Field. Brian takes actions not to prevent World War III but to quickly resolve it once the missiles are fired. The second, concurrent story is a mystical story that revolves around Sandy Field, Brian's widow and her attempts to gather together a small group of people to survive World War III, as predicted by Brian before his death.
Each story could stand on its own but when they are wove together the way they are they show how, even if there are some horrible events that we cannot control or prevent, that once survived, a new life can be built on the ashes of the old one.

Picture Theory: Essays on Verbal and Visual Representation
Published in Paperback by University of Chicago Press (August, 1995)
Average review score:

A classicThis book has to be considered as a classic in the field. Ironically, Mitchell's term 'pictorial turn' seems to be more widespread than knowledge of this book, with the unsettling consequence that many people talk about pictures *replacing* the word, and few about the intricate and complex relationship between the two.
The book is surprisingly well written, rarely has an academic book entertained me so much. For everybody who wants to know what *pictorial turn* means from the point of view of the person who coined this phrase, I can only recommend it warmest.
